
Acerola [Malpighia emarginata] is a tropical fruit-bearing shrub or small tree in the family Malpighiaceae. Common names include acerola, Barbados cherry, West Indian cherry and wild crapemyrtle. Acerola is native from Southern Mexico, Central and South America, but now being also grown as far North as Texas and in subtropical areas – Asia and India. It is known for being extremely rich in vitamin C although it also contains vitamins A, B1, B2 and B3 as well as carotenoids and bioflavonoids which provide very important nutritive value and have possible antioxidant uses. This vitamin C produced by the fruit is better absorbed by human organisms than synthetic ascorbic acid.

- Mashed tomato can be beneficial for pore cleansing.
- Natural products are best in skin care items. Mineral oil, petrolatum, hydrogenated oil are not good for the skin.
- Puffy eyes can benefit from allowing cool cucumber slices to rest on your eyes for ten to twenty minutes.
- Short grain rice can help get rid of dead skin.
- The following is a list of ingredients beneficial to the skin: allantoin, alpha-hydroxy acids, aloe Vera, arnica, burdock, calendula, chamomile, collagen, comfrey, cucumber, essential fatty acids, ginkgo biloba, glycerine, ivy, liposome's, panthenol (also known as provitamin B5), retinoic acid, sage, witch hazel, and yarrow.

Advice
- A sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher should be used regularly on all skin types, no matter what the season or weather.
- Avoid putting heavy oils in the eye area before bed. It might promote puffy eyes.
- Be aware of the expressions on your face. Try to avoid using expressions that cause wrinkling (squinting eyes, raising eyebrows, etc.)
- Cold-pressed vegetable oils are good sources of fatty acids. Do not consume animal fats or saturated fats.
- Exercise regularly in order to boost circulation.
- Harsh soaps and solid cleansing creams (cold creams) are not good for your skin. Look for products with natural oils. Avocado oil is good. Always be gentle when putting it on your face. Use warm water to wash it off. To help remove dead skin and to enhance circulation, gently cleanse with a loofah or facial sponge a couple of times a week.
- In order to keep skin hydrated and eliminate toxins from the body, it is recommended that you drink 2 quarts of water every day.
- Maintain healthy skin by taking care of it. Moisturize as needed.
- Participate in facial exercise. Pretend you are chewing, raise and lower your head while concentrating on the areas below the chin and on the neck. Fifteen minutes of relaxing on a slant board will also help.
- Refrain from smoking, alcohol, and caffeine as they cause the skin to dry out. Smoking also encourages early wrinkles from the position in which you hold your mouth while smoking.
- Use only cosmetics that you absolutely need. Do not let anyone use your cosmetics, and do not use theirs. Get new products after three months of use.
- Use toners that do not contain alcohol. Witch hazel or herbal/floral water are recommended.
- Whole grains, seeds, legumes, nuts, and raw fruits and vegetables are important to maintain healthy skin.
