How To Use Auricle Audiometers

By Dawn Bradford

The work of auricle audiometers is mainly to test the children's ability to hear. This is because children who do not have a good hearing ability may develop cognitive hearing abilities and become slow in speech. In this case, a child suffering from this deficiency will be required to sit close to the teacher or use a hearing aid while in class.

For this reason, when you have a kid, it is important that you find an audiometer that will test the child's capability to hear. The gadget will only take little time like seconds to perform the task. It will then indicate if your kid is able to hear well.

To start this task, you need to plug the device in an electrical source. Leave the device for about 10 minutes to allow its power to warm up. In the process, position your child properly in a chair facing away from the device. Place the device where they cannot view it.

Take off any glasses or earrings if you kid have any and then place earphones on his or her ears. Ensure that the earphones are able to cover his or her ears fully. Instruct the kid to raise his or her right hand up if he or she hears sound on the right ear. The child should do the same with other ear.

Adjust the switch on the device and set it at 20dB. Then, turn the dial to 1000 Hz. After this, you should activate the right and left ears earphones by pushing the two buttons at the same time. When you release the buttons, activate the right and left ears separately. You should repeat this steps as you set it to 2000 Hz and 4000 Hz.

After that, you are able to identify whether the kid has passed this auricle audiometer test. If the kid identifies 20dB under any frequency ranging from 1000Hz to 4000Hz, then the kid has passed the test. If the kid does not hear anything, then you should repeat this test.
