The Benefits of Renewable Energy Outweigh The Down sides

By Craig Mendoza

People are constantly looking for better methods to do things, and that is even true with energy consumption. The rise in fuel prices and our present sources being depleted, efforts are being made to uncover reliable alternative resources. With renewable energy, there is no fear that we will be able to run out of it when compared to non-renewable resources. Even more significant is the fact that there are no damaging effects to the environment from renewable energy, since they generate little or no waste products.

It's also been exhibiting that countries that are using renewable energy sources are having some economic benefits. These projects are located in regions away from cities while others are taking full benefit. Even community services along with tourism were able to increase with the money brought in with the alternative energy. At this point, the amount of renewable energy getting produced is actually no where near what fossil fuels can produce. Another issue with alternative energy is that the supply just isn't always reliable. Some renewable sources depend on the weather to generate the power supply. No matter where you might be on earth, the weather can affect the amount of energy that can be produced.

Solar energy is surely an effective and free resource for generating energy. The sun is able to give off enough energy to replace the electricity from traditional sources, but it has limitations. In regions that usually rain a lot or are typically cloudy are not good for solar energy. Another renewable source is wind energy which is capable of replacing approximately 20% of the non-renewable sources being used to create electricity. In the process of converting the energy, zero hazardous gases are produced, which makes it a source of energy that is extremely friendly to the environment. Large windmills are required for producing wind energy and need to be located in the vicinity of coastlines or at high latitudes.

Tidal energy, which utilizes tides from the ocean to provide energy and hydroelectric power, which uses dams to produce energy are two styles of water based energy. It is another clean means of producing energy, but with a few disadvantages. Dams that are created for hydroelectricity are very pricey to build and have an effect on the natural environment. Tidal energy power plants have extremely demanding requirements and are able to be used in certain areas. These facilities may also impact the fish and migratory birds in the area.

Despite the negatives regarding some renewable resources, we should continue to consider them for use. The harmful results of fossil fuels are much greater than any unfavorable effects for alternative sources. No matter how many discoveries are made for alternative energy sources that are environmentally friendly and cost-effective, the hunt for more will continue on.
