Tendonitis Symptoms

By Alan Smith

The tough fibers that connect the bones and the flesh to the muscles are called tendons. The condition where these tendons are inflamed are called tendonitis. Tendonitis can affect any of the tendons connected in any part of the body. Tendonitis symptoms vary from mild to severe pain in the affected area.

The degree of pressure put on the affected area or the muscles attached to the particular tendon as a result of continuous or sudden movement would lead to tendonitis symptoms. Tendonitis can also be caused by the misalignment of the joints which are connected to the tendons, poor posture and dehydration of the fascia.

Tendonitis symptoms are caused by immense pressure exerted on the tendon through the muscles. Tightness of the affected muscle is one of the tendonitis symptoms. The tightness of the muscles causes pain, uneasiness and also feeling of discomfort when trying to move the particular muscle. There is pain during movement along with sharp contraction, pull and pain through the affected muscle through a linear line for the peculiar tendonitis symptoms around the joint. The feeling of helplessness to move the muscle is one of the tendonitis symptoms. The strength of the muscle becomes temporarily inactive and so depending on the which tendon is affected the daily workings of life like moving around and working would be affected. Tingling sensation and numbness are not part of the tendonitis symptoms.

There are different tendons in different parts of the body which are affected by tendonitis. Shoulder tendonitis, Achilles tendonitis and patellar tendonitis are some of the common tendonitis. The patellar tendonitis symptoms include pain between the patella tendon and the tibia. The pain becomes worst with increasing degree of activity. The distinctive shoulder tendonitis symptoms include feeling of discomfort or pain in the lower part of the body which can slowly move up to the upper arm. If not treated properly it might become permanent. The Achilles tendonitis symptoms are severe or mild pain, stiffness and tenderness, swelling of the angle and soreness.

Any type of tendonitis should not be taken lightly and must be treated when the first tendonitis symptoms are observed. Complete rest for the affected tendon and the related for recovery from tendonitis.
