Improving Your Health With Walking

By Dana Cain

An important part of any successful weight loss plan is exercise. You'll burn more calories you burn the more you work your muscles. That's why you can't depend on dieting alone. Start moving that body and do some exercises if you want to get that weight and body you've always wanted.

To lose weight, a great exercise you can do is walking. Plus, you don't need any expertise and equipments and you can do it anytime you like. However, doing it regularly would be more beneficial. What you can do is either make it a daily habit or at least 3-5 times a week.

Before you start walking, it's important to do some warm up stretching exercises first. Remember to only stretch as far as feel comfortable, otherwise you might pull some muscles. Try starting with a modest goal at a leisurely pace of about 15-20 minutes. After a while, you can extend the speed and duration. Warm-up, exercise pace, and cool down should be the 3 segments of your walk.

When you walk, keep you chin up and your shoulders held slightly back. Make sure that the heel of your foot is the first to touch the ground. You need to roll your weigh forward. While walking, try swinging your arms. If you don't want to end up having sore or stiff muscles or joints, then you need to start gradually. Begin walking faster and go further over several weeks and walk for longer periods of time. It's better if you walk on soft ground. Drink plenty of water, preferable 8-10 ounces for every 20-30 minutes.

The more you walk, the more you'll feel better. More fats are burned when walking because it uses more calories. Helping you relax, reducing your stress, helping you sleep better, giving you more energy, and helping control your appetite are just some of the benefits of walking.

It's more important to walk for time and speed when you want to lose weight. Longer workouts are yielded by walking at a moderate pace, and there's less soreness and more calories spent on a regular basis.
